About this Event
Step into the wild and discover nature’s hidden pantry with Felicity Joy of Homegrown Botanica at EcoFest Auckland! This inspiring talk will open your eyes to the abundance of edible wild plants growing right under your nose—right in the heart of the city.
Join us for an engaging two-hour session where we’ll unlock the secrets of foraging, connecting with the land, and turning humble “weeds” into delicious, nourishing food. You’ll gain confidence in identifying common edible plants, learn their botanical names, and understand their medicinal and nutritional benefits. We’ll also explore ethical foraging practices, how to spot toxic lookalikes, and share simple, practical ways to incorporate wild foods into your daily meals.
This isn’t just about food—it’s about sustainability, resilience, and reconnecting with the environment in a meaningful way. You’ll leave with a deeper appreciation for the land, new skills to support local food security, and the knowledge to make your own simple meals from wild ingredients.
To start things off, we’ll sip on a cup of herbal tea, and to wrap it up, you’ll get to taste a wildly delicious snack made from seasonally foraged ingredients.
Come along, get inspired, and let’s celebrate the bounty of nature together!
