About this Event

Yoko is returning to Waiheke to share her amazing upcycling skills of Kintsugi!
Kintsugi (also known as Kintsukuroi) which loosely translates to ‘Golden Joinery’ is the age-old Japanese art form of repairing broken ceramics in a way that is often considered more beautiful than when it was when whole. This ancient technique is a true celebration of ‘Wabi Sabi’, the aesthetic appreciation of the broken, old or disregarded.
You will be taken through an easy step by step instructions on how to piece back together with your broken ceramics with lacquer and gold powder.
Yoko is a Japanese Kintsugi technic who has lived in NZ for 8 years.
She will guide you through this group tutorial and hands-on experience.
All materials to repair your broken pieces will be supplied. Just bring your item to repair. We will also have few broken crockery pieces available for you to choose from!
Please note: THIS IS A 2-HOUR WORKSHOP!
There will be two classes on the day: please choose which option you would like to sign up for:
OPTION 1: 11 am – 1 pm
OPTION 2: 5 pm – 7 pm

This is also a great workshop to support our emphasis on the need to move up the Waste Hierarchy 🙂 Choose UPCYCLE and REPAIR over DISPOSE and BUYING NEW
