About this Event
Discover the amazing critters that call the muddy estuary their home! There’s a lot more the Whau’s muddy shores than meets the eye. From burrowing anemones to snapping shrimp, paddle crabs to predatory snails, this unassuming habitat is home to a wide range of exciting creatures.
So why not come and meet these curious critters? Join us to survey the area’s rich biodiversity and learn more about this fascinating ecosystem. We’ll be using Marine Metre Squared to measure what we see, which means that all animal discoveries you make will be part of a NZ-wide citizen science project!
Bring along a hat and sunscreen, suitable footwear (it’ll be muddy, so make sure you wear something you don’t mind getting wet), a drink bottle, and all you friends and whanau too! You can also download the free iNaturalist app on your phone – it will be really handy when it comes to identifying what you find.
We can’t wait to see you there!
