DESCRIPTION:Join the Greenhithe Community Trust at Taihinui Historical Reserve this EcoFest 2026 \nLove tramping off the beaten track and exploring wild bush? This group is made for you. \nBe part of the Friends of Taihinui Historical Reserve group for a morning \nThis volunteer team works along the stunning Hellyers/Oruamo Escarpment\, a mature bush reserve filled with pōhutukawa\, a nikau grove\, pūriri\, giant tanekaha\, coastal kōwhai and more.\nThe trail is informal and rough in places\, so a good level of fitness is needed\, but the rewards are worth it. \nHelp the group free native trees by removing invasive plants along the way: elaeagnus\, woolly nightshade\, moth plant and wild ginger. After several years of mahi\, there’s still more to tackle\, and every session makes a visible difference. \nYour efforts are rewarded with sweeping views of the inner Waitematā Harbour\, peaceful bush surrounds\, and the satisfaction of helping nature thrive right here in Greenhithe.
