Conservation Volunteers New Zealand (CVNZ) is collaborating with Friends of Oakley Creek and Wai Care Programme to demonstrate how we study the health of waterways.
Wai Care is a citizen science program that helps communities connect with local waterways through learning, monitoring, and action. We aim to understand and improve stream health by raising awareness of its connection to daily activities and fostering collective responsibility.
We will demonstrate how to monitor the health of the waterways, conduct on-site water testing, identify fish and macro-invertebrates, and share some interesting facts about our awa (stream).
This multilingual workshop is delivered in English, Spanish, Cantonese/Mandarin. You and your family and friends are warmly welcome to join us. Let’s show our love to the awa. Hats, long sleeves/trousers, and sturdy footwear are a must.
Also please bring your water bottle:)
