SUMMARY:MyShinyMadness Urban Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Step inside the multi award-winning urban gallery of Lisa Watkins\, better known as MyShinyMadness. \nFor EcoFest 2026\, Lisa opens her own Urban Sustainability Gallery — a rare indoor and outdoor exhibition showcasing a powerful collection of large-scale artworks made entirely from rescued and repurposed materials. \nThese are not small experiments. They are bold\, joyful\, statement works that transform overlooked waste into wonder. Colour\, texture and scale collide to create an experience that is both playful and deeply considered. \nWinner of the Localised Sustainability Art Award and the Waitākere Arts Top Assemblage Award\, and a member of the Gallery Climate Coalition (GCC)\, Lisa’s practice sits at the forefront of contemporary sustainability-led art in Aotearoa. \nLast year she exhibited at Smales Farm and the Naumi Hotel for EcoFest and World Earth Day. This year\, visitors are invited into her own evolving Urban Sustainability Gallery — an intimate and immersive opportunity to encounter a substantial body of large-scale upcycled work in one place. \nWhether you are a serious art lover\, a curious family\, or someone passionate about circular design\, this exhibition offers a chance to experience joy\, scale and material transformation up close. \nFollowing a year of detailed planning\, Lisa has recently secured council consent and is now actively seeking funding to realise the first sculpture in her long-term legacy project: New Zealand’s first permanent sustainable sculpture trail on public land. This exhibition forms part of that growing vision. \nThe exhibition runs from 22 March to 22 April. \nOpening Day: Sunday 22 March\n11am | 1pm | 3pm \nWednesdays and Saturdays\n11am | 1pm\ 3pm  \nEntry is by gold coin koha (donation on arrival).

SUMMARY:Bundle Dyeing at TRSS
DESCRIPTION:Titirangi Rudolf Steiner School invites you to experience bundle-dyeing! Bundle-dying is a simple\, fun way to create colour on natural fibres using plant materials and even food waste. \nEach participant will select from the plant matter provided\, which they will arrange on a silk scarf ( included in the price ). Once rolled up and secured\, this will then be steamed. \nWhile this is happening\, participants can enjoy a kawakawa tea brewed on an open fire while wandering in the permaculture garden nearby. \nDuring the downtime\, we can try some hapazome! Hapazome is a Japanese word meaning leaf print. \nOnce the technique of pounding with a mallet has been mastered\, beautiful patterns can be created in cloth and paper by arranging flowers and leaves into patterns. \nEach participant will be given a piece of cloth to practice on and a small cotton gift bag to decorate and take home. \nAges 14+\, or 9-14 with a supervising adult. \nPlease note – people work at different paces for this process\, so the finish time may be between 11.30 and midday. \nPlease register. Places are limited! \nPlease have a look at the Titirangi Steiner website for further information – https://titirangi.steiner.school.nz/events-calendar/

SUMMARY:Kids Art Workshop - Mt Eden/Epsom
DESCRIPTION:Learn how to turn everyday waste into imaginative works of art at Creative Matters’ Eco Holiday Art Programme. \nThese April holidays\, children will explore sustainability through hands-on creative projects that transform recycled materials into something extraordinary. \nTaking inspiration from artists and designers\, we’ll build and create using recycled materials in inventive ways. \nThese holidays\, we’ll be constructing papier-mache sculptures\, designing cardboard rollercoasters that twist and turn\, inventing quirky CD tricycles\, and much more! Along the way\, students will problem-solve\, experiment\, and discover how creativity and sustainability go hand in hand. \nBring along: A bag of clean recycled materials from home — cardboard\, boxes\, tubes\, old magazines\, CDs\, packaging\, fabric scraps and other interesting bits destined for the bin. \nGive your child the opportunity to think creatively about the world around them – heading home inspired\, empowered\, and more conscious of how small sustainable choices can make a big difference. \n  \nCreative Matters will operate from 7th April – 17th April\, Monday through Friday during the April School holidays.
