SUMMARY:Low-Carbon Dining Experience at East
DESCRIPTION:Discover how low-carbon dining can reduce food-related emissions without compromising flavour. \nJoin us at East for a Low-Carbon Dining Experience that highlights one of the most effective ways hospitality can reduce its climate impact: choosing plant proteins over high-emissions animal proteins. \nThis seasonal\, plant-forward menu draws inspiration from modern Asian cuisine\, celebrating bold\, nature-led flavours and seasonal produce. Plant proteins are prioritised because they generate significantly lower carbon emissions than most animal proteins\, recognising that how food is produced matters more to emissions than food miles alone. \nThis is a specially curated set menu at $69 per person\, including a glass of wine. The menu will be available during both lunch (12–3pm) and dinner (5–9pm). \nAlongside the dining experience\, guests will gain insight into how practical choices from protein selection to thoughtful kitchen practices can meaningfully reduce carbon emissions in everyday dining\, without sacrificing taste or enjoyment. \nBring along an appetite for great food and a curiosity about how everyday dining choices can support climate action. \nConnect with your community and experience how flavour\, climate responsibility\, and modern hospitality come together at East\, transparently and intentionally. \nA specially curated EcoFest set menu will be available at East Restaurant for both lunch and dinner throughout the EcoFest month.

SUMMARY:Meat Free Mondays Visits Ukraine
DESCRIPTION:Join Meat Free Mondays Waiheke this Easter for a low-carbon\, plant-based taste of Ukrainian food and culture with Simon Paul. \n\nMoved by the plight of Ukrainians gripped by war with Russia\, Simon has put his own safety at risk to travel to the country three times over the past three years\, helping in any way he can. This has taken many forms\, from volunteering for the Red Cross in No Man’s Land\, to pushing beds in hospitals\, to plumbing and handyman jobs. In the process\, he’s experienced first-hand the warmth\, generosity and richness of Ukrainian culture\, learning the language and customs – as well as some of their traditional recipes.\n\n\n\n\n\nSimon has created a menu for us comprised of simple\, wholesome dishes that are quintessentially Ukrainian:\n\n\n\n\n\nBorsch\n\n\nThe vibrant beetroot soup\, packed with vegetables and served with sour cream\, that is considered a vital\, historically rooted symbol of Ukrainian culture – so much so that Unesco recognised it on its list of intangible cultural heritage in need of protection.\n\n\n\nHalušky\n\n\nThese little potato dumplings are a bit like Ukrainian gnocchi. First boiled\, then pan-fried with mushrooms\, onions and other tasty ingredients\, they’re the ultimate comfort food.\n\n\n\nSunflower Halva\n\n\nYou may have tried the Middle Eastern version of this delicious sweet – in Ukraine they make it with sunflower instead of sesame seeds.\n\n\n\nApricot Kompot\n\n\nKompot is a staple beverage in Ukraine\, made by simmering fruits in water with a little sugar. Simon is making his favourite version of it\, with apricots!\n\n\n\n\n\nSee you for Easter in Ukraine!\nTickets through https://events.humanitix.com/meat-free-mondays-visits-ukraine/tickets

SUMMARY:Grow Your Own Microgreens for Kids - St Heliers
DESCRIPTION:Join Ali at St Heliers Library for a fun\, hands-on Love Food Hate Waste workshop where kids discover how easy it is to grow their own food. \nIn this interactive session\, kids will plant their own microgreens using recycled materials and take home a simple growing kit they can look after themselves. Because microgreens grow quickly\, children can harvest and eat what they’ve grown\, making this a rewarding and confidence-boosting activity that extends well beyond the workshop. \nThe workshop is suitable for children aged 6–12 years. Each child must attend with an adult. \nThis workshop is part of EcoFest 2026\, a month-long celebration of Tāmaki Makaurau’s unique environment and the ways we care for it. \nThis Love Food Hate Waste workshop is proudly supported by Auckland Council and delivered by Compost Collective.
