This workshop and trading day sits alongside the Journeys We Have Travelled group exhibition at Lake House Art Centre\, where artworks made from recycled\, upcycled\, and repurposed materials explore similar themes and intentions. \nPick up a free ATC kit from the Lake House Art Centre café from Friday 13 March and pre-make your card(s)\, or use shared resources on the day to create your own on Sunday 22 March. You can drop completed cards into the exhibition from 13 March\, or join the community card swap on Sunday 22 March (10am–2pm)\, where everyday and abandoned materials are transformed into small\, meaningful works of art. DESCRIPTION:Wear the Future | 穿出未来 is a creative youth sustainability initiative combining environmental education and artistic expression. \nThe project engages Auckland’s Asian youth to design and present sustainable wearable art made entirely from recycled\, repurposed and eco-friendly materials. \nGuided by professional contemporary artists Deng Xinli and Xie Yi\, 50 youth participants will take part in three hands-on workshops and a final runway showcase that transforms waste into art. \nThrough creative upcycling\, participants will learn about waste minimisation\, sustainable design principles\, and the value of re-use while celebrating Asian cultural heritage and environmental stewardship. \nThis initiative supports the Auckland Council’s Zero Waste 2040 vision by reducing waste to landfill through community education\, creative reuse\, and youth-led advocacy for sustainability. \nA light lunch will be provided.
