About this Event

Join the Greenhithe Community Trust at Oratau Reserve this EcoFest 2026

Get outdoors, meet locals, and help care for one of Greenhithe’s special green spaces.

Be part of the Friends of Oratau Reserve

Led by locals Pete and Garth, with support from facilitator Gary, this welcoming volunteer group has been restoring Oratau Reserve in Greenhithe since 2019.
The reserve stretches from Orchard Reserve (off Almond Grove) out to Lucas Creek, forming an important stream outlet and bird corridor.
Each week the team works to protect the area by removing pest plants, carrying out pest‑animal control, and planting native species.

The group meets every Wednesday at 9.30am at the end of Oratau Place.

What you can get involved in

  • Rescuing native plants from weeds
  • Preparing sites for native plantings
  • Planting native trees and shrubs

No experience is needed — just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. Come on your own, with family, or with friends. Everyone is welcome.

What to bring

Morning tea is provided. Please bring a cold drink if needed.
If the weather is poor, emails will be sent to those registered.
