About this Event

Join community bike mechanic Kelvin at Pakuranga’s Bike Hub after-hours these school holidays for a bike maintenance 101 session aimed at helping high school students independently maintain their bikes and enjoy their rides.

This practical, hands-on workshop is suitable for beginners and is aimed specifically for high school aged people. You’ll be learning how to look after your bike alongside other young people with skilled bike hub mechanics, in a friendly environment. Kelvin has a lot of experience working in schools and some great tips to share.

These workshops aim to build your confidence to discover more bike repair skills during regular open hours at Bike Hubs all over Tāmaki Makaurau. You are welcome to stay at the end to continue chatting and connecting with other students and enjoy a fizzy drink with us!

At this beginners workshop, Kelvin and the team will take you step by step through:

· assessing tyre safety

· choosing a tyre for your needs

· inner tube puncture repair

Bring your own bike to practice on if you can. There will also be a couple of bikes available to borrow for the session if needed.
