About this Event
Find out more about trees and tree climbing, watch expert arborists climb and learn new techniques, and try it yourself!
You have three whānau friendly chances to get involved throughout the day:
- From 8-11am there will be kids-focused tree climbing, meeting at the Saturday Market in Ostend
- We’ll continue from 12-4pm with a tree climbing competition on Putiki Rd.
- You are then encouraged to cycle together to Whakanewha, which is where the last part of the day’s adventures will take place. From 5pm till late, there will be the opportunity to do some tree climbing, listen to presentations and watch movies at the Storytelling Pohutukawa at Whakanewha Sculpture Park. Bring some snacks o share!
You are welcome to come only to one part of the event or to a combination, as suits you. Climbing gear for both kids and adults will be provided, and a koha is appreciated.
Attendees are encouraged to camp and stay overnight at Poukaraka Flats campground in Whakanewha Regional Park; you will be responsible for bringing your own camping gear and booking a site. No dogs allowed, arohamai!
This is a Neighbours Aoteaora event funded by the Waiheke Local Board; its aim is to spark new neighbourhood connections and create a flourishing, inclusive and resilient Waiheke together.
