About this Event

Protecting our native environment includes biosecurity.

Come and learn about plant pathogens and exotic pests, why they’re a risk, and what we can do about them. Protecting kauri and reducing myrtle rust are the two main biosecurity concerns covered in this workshop. We will also cover exotic pest incursions like the yellow-legged hornet.

This is a part of a series of four free training workshops, hosted by Pest Free Kaipātiki Restoration Society. You are also welcome to sign-up and stay for the afternoon session on predator control. After attending all four workshops, you will recieve a certificate of completion. These workshops are for new volunteers looking to do restoration and conservation work, and those in the community who want to expand or refresh their knowledge.

Feel free to bring something to take notes with, lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Knowledge is the first step towards caring for the environment, we hope to see you there!
