About this Event

Join us for The Adaptation Game: a playful, hands-on workshop that explores how Kaipātiki can prepare for the impacts of extreme weather events.

Imagine this: after months of drought, Kaipātiki’s green spaces are tinder dry. A single cigarette near Eskdale Reserve sparks a grass fire that spreads quickly. Smoke fills the air, roads become hazardous, and local schools and homes are evacuated. Your neighbours need help.

What would you do? How would your community come together to respond and recover? What would you need to be ready next time?

The Adaptation Game turns serious scenarios like this into a collaborative experience where players take on community roles, make critical choices, and uncover practical ways to strengthen local resilience. Through playful simulation, you’ll gain new insights into how extreme weather events could affect Kaipātiki and the actions we can take to adapt together.

Come connect, learn, and be part of shaping a more resilient future for Kaipātiki

Please note: Whilst this is a board game, the subject can be overwhelming especially for younger people. Please get in contact if you want to discuss bringing people under the age of 16.
