CANCELLED Rodney Soils Workshop
About this Event
You are cordially invited to attend a workshop on understanding local (clay!) soils which explores how to “futureproof” your land against the extremes of climate change by rapidly building topsoil. Participants are encouraged to bring a soil “core” from their land to share with Dr. Guinto and other participants. Soil core boxes with instructions can be provided upon registering.
Workshop Overview
The workshop offers a comprehensive exploration of local soils and their unique characteristics. During the session, you will have the opportunity to:
- Using biochar on clay soils
- Learn your soil type using the Soil Maps
- Tour a farm that has improved their clay through the use of swales, biochar, and on-site composting
- Bring your own and enjoy a lunch break with fellow participants. Drinks and bananas will be provided
- Purchase a bucket of biochar
The Thursday 27 March workshops will run from 10 am to 3 pm.
The address of the workshop will be provided to those that register through Humanitix. Soil core boxes and instructions will be provided to those expressing interest. Questions? ask [email protected]
Additional Notes to Registrants:
Bring a lunch and we will provide bananas and beverages. It will be important to be fit as the banana farm is only accessible via steep steps and the ground is rough and uneven. Gumboots, sunhat and drink bottles are recommended.
Cost: $5
Registration/Ticket Info:
