About this Event

Join BirdCare Aotearoa and Arataki Visitors Centre whānau for a guided hīkoi (walk) through the Upper Nihotupu dam trail, celebrating the whenua (land) and magical creatures of the night. We hope to see Ruru, Titiwai glow worms, and Pupurangi kauri snails…
We will also share bat detectors, so keep an ear out for New Zealand’s critically endangered Pekapeka long-tailed bats (Although typically less active in April).
Fundraiser to support the rehabilitation of ruru (morepork) native owls at BirdCare Aotearoa, a native bird hospital. $30 per person.
Recommended age: 10+
Bring warm gear, sturdy walking shoes, and a torch (preferably with red light).
This is a collaborative event between BirdCare Aotearoa and Arataki Visitors Centre.
Moderate level of difficulty along the trail, at night. Please wear suitable footwear and warm gear
