About this Event
Take a theatrical journey deep into an ocean full of amazing sharks — from the prehistoric past to today. You won’t need diving gear to swim with these majestic creatures; just come as you are.
Created in collaboration with the internationally renowned puppet theatre company Earth, Swimming with Sharks is an immersive live performance that will transform how you think about sharks and the oceans they call home. Discover the diversity of sharks that live in the seas around Aotearoa, brought to life through expressive puppetry.
Meet small sharks and the largest of them all, super‑speedy swimmers and those who cruise along the seafloor. Hear stories and fascinating facts about these often‑misunderstood ocean creatures, and explore the essential role they play in the delicate balance of ocean life.
Season Dates & Times This special school‑holiday season runs every day from Friday, 3 April to Sunday, 19 April. Daily showtimes: 10 AM, 11 AM, 12 PM, 2 PM, and 3 PM. Each performance is approximately 20 minutes long.
Children are invited to sit up close on floor cushions, with adults welcome to join them or relax on sofas at the back of the space.
Relaxed Performances are also available. For more information, visit: https://www.aucklandmuseum.com/visit/whats-on/kids-and-family/relaxed-performance-swimming-with-sharks
