VIP Kayak Day at Matuku Link

Experience Auckland’s largest wetland on a unique VIP kayak tour to raise funds for wetland restoration at Matuku Link on World Rivers Day.

The navigable part of the Waitākere River is only accessible from private land, and on this one day, access will be allowed. Limited tickets are available, and all gear, including kayaks, paddles, and life vests, will be provided. The suggested minimum age is 12 years old. Please indicate your preferred start time for the two-hour paddle: 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., or 3 p.m.

Matuku Link is a community conservation and education project in Bethells/Te Henga. We restore the wetland with plants from our own nursery, protect the wildlife, and provide a wetland education program. The Waitakere River flows through Matuku Link and into the unique Te Henga wetland.

Upon arrival at our Sustainable Wetland Education Centre (also known as ‘the barn’), you will be greeted by the aroma of a sausage sizzle, which offers regular, vegan, and gluten-free options. In addition, we offer home-baked goods, locally roasted coffee, and cold drinks for purchase to provide sustenance before or after your kayak tour.
