About this Event

Walk A Trapline with Louis!

You’ve hear of it before — but have you ever wondered what it actually means to “walk a trapline”? This is a classic kiwi conservation tradition that thousands of kiwis uphold year-round to help create a predator-free Aotearoa! Stretch your legs as you enjoy visiting parts of the forest that are a little way off the main pathways.
This April — join Louis, Greenhithe Community Trusts experienced Eco Facilitator, at Outlook Reserve as checks out and guides you along the trapline that runs through this beautiful ngahere.
What to expect:
  • Learn trapping tips and techniques from an expert — improve your trapping, or learn from scratch.
  • Explore a different part of Greenhithe that few others get to see.
  • This is a FREE event, and everyone is welcome.
  • Wear footwear with a good grip and bring a drink bottle.
  • Meet at the stone bridge at Oakford Park Drive at 11am. This event will be held immediately after the Friends of Outlook Reserve volunteer session

This event may even inspire you to become a Trapline Guardian yourself (no pressure though, if you just want to join the walk out of interest). The trapline that Louis is guiding this April is currently tended by two Trapline Guardians. If you want to become a Trapline Guardian, let us know: You will play a key role in looking after a trapline regularly throughout the year. This can be done, weekly, fortnightly or monthly – a shared role between many. Join our event, and see what it’s all about.
