Whatipu Weed Warriors Weekend
About this Event
Arrive at Whatipu and marvel how such a remote area is so close to Auckland.
And it is under threat! Tabacco Weed (Woolly Nightshade) is invading the forest and wetland.
Join our Woolly War for a weekend (or day) to help the Friends of Whatipu restore this beautiful area and prepare it for the future release of pateke – native brown teal.
Tools will be provided for a couple of hours of “scrape and paint” of the Woolly Nightshade, followed by a guided walk. Option to stay at Whatipu Lodge or Campground and hear about the history of the place in the evening, or to listen to the evening chorus. Do some more woolly next day or return home.
You can come for the day or stay the weekend – Nature needs you for some shared mahi and fun in great company.
