About this Event

Join fellow Rakino Island snorkelling enthusiasts for a low-tide exploration of the Māori Garden Bay rocky reef, home to a variety of fascinating marine life. This relaxed snorkelling session will be followed by light snacks and refreshments, as well as an informal discussion about how the local community can help protect this special snorkelling spot for the future.

Participants will need to bring their own snorkelling gear and have basic snorkelling experience. A wetsuit is recommended, as time in the water will be approximately one hour. Attendees are encouraged to bring simple snacks to share afterwards.

Meet at the Fireshed at 3:00pm, then walk down together to the Māori Garden Bay snorkelling spot. This event is best suited to Rakino Island residents due to transport and accommodation limitations.

Please note: this event is highly weather dependent and may be postponed or cancelled if conditions are unsafe. Final updates will be shared with attendees on the day.

Cost: Free
