Why Carpooling Never Took Off – Waiheke

About this Event

Carpooling has long been promoted as a solution to congestion and emissions, yet it has never truly succeeded at scale. Why not?

This talk explores the key reasons carpooling has struggled to take off — from trust and safety challenges to issues with design and incentive structures.

The session will also introduce Carpoolin, a New Zealand–built platform created for everyday travel, outlining the design decisions, safety features, and business model behind it.

The event will conclude with an open Q&A with the audience.
