About this Event
Come and join a group of friendly locals restoring and looking after Wainoni Park. Friends of Wainoni Park meet most Thursday mornings until mid-December (we often have breaks over the school holidays, and start earlier in the hotter months, so please email us to confirm date & time if you are interested in joining the group).
There are a range of tasks to suit a variety of fitness levels. This is a great opportunity to meet others while caring for Greenhithe’s environment.
Activities include:
– Releasing recently planted and established native trees from pest plants (weeds);
– Preparing areas for native plants;
– Planting native plants;
– Spreading mulch around native plantings;
– Pest control;
– Looking after the community edible garden;
– Removing rubbish from the park;
– Carrying out wildlife surveys; and
– Getting fit whilst forming new friendships.
We welcome school students & university students to join us during the holidays.
Please bring a cold drink, a sunhat, and wear shoes with a good grip.
Long sleeves and trousers are recommended for some areas. Morning tea is supplied.
