About this Event
Forget the branded organic cotton tote bag. Forget the oversized beach bag. Even forget the polypropylene supermarket bags.
Introducing the first BORN AGAIN AS A BAG workshop by Florence Saves Clothes. This is a spin-off of our 2024 Keeping Pants Alive Longer workshops and our own SAVED bag product line.
In this workshop you’ll learn to make sturdy, funky shop-all bags from saved jeans and other pants that Florence has processed and cut up into tried and tested panels, and bundled ready for you to sew. Keen to freestyle your own bag design? No worries. Mix and match your own panels and straps.
This is great fun as well as a strong solution to textile waste. Think about it for a moment.
Why produce new products to carry stuff with when there is sooooooo much textile and clothing waste either at the tip, on the way there! Right now there are probably a few would-be shop-all bags languishing in your wardrobe or garage. Let’s rescue it and give it a new life…..born again as a bag 🙂
Most of what you need is provided, but we suggest bringing your own pair of scissors and favourite colours of sewing thread if you have them, plus any other bits and bobs you think could become part of your born again creation.
Cost: $45
