About this Event
Join us in this interactive and hands-on workshop where you will learn all things tree health!
For optimal health and crop yield, there are many easy steps you can take to care for your fruit trees. Explore the concepts of understory species, guilds or companion species and learn about pruning. You will be able to apply your learning and practice pruning our apple, pear, citrus, and peach trees. Study the art of tree training where you shape branches for easier harvesting, improved airflow and greater yield. The NZEWT Community Garden food forest will be our learning ground and you will get the chance to apply what you’ve learnt on our trees.
Facilitating this workshop is expert Judy Keats, Green Sister. Judy is a regenerative permaculture practitioner with a wealth of knowledge and experience growing, teaching and starting community gardens across Auckland. We are extremely fortunate to learn from her.
Due to the requirement of fine weather for pruning, a rain date is set for this workshop. In case of bad weather, the workshop will be held on Sunday 14th April instead.
All made possible thanks to the Puketāpapa local board. Roskill, lesssgrow!
