This workshop will give students the chance to combine drawing and water media techniques to build a drawing based on the ‘Water, Fall’ exhibition.

Water, place, and memory intertwine in the ‘Water, Fall’ exhibition. Sites in Auckland and Waikato hold personal meaning for artists Celia Walker and Jaqui Bennenbroek, with Bennenbroek’s focus on erosion at Kariotahi and Walker’s exploration of Maramarua’s coal mining landscape. The broader impact of floods and climate on Tāmaki Makaurau is a catalyst for a collaborative installation by printmakers in the Hard-Pressed Collective. The installation underscores water’s erosive power and the potential for a ‘Sponge City’, shifting from concrete to natural wetlands for a more sustainable future.
